OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS...

i have lost 10 pounds... gained 8 pounds... then lost 9 pounds. my weight control is starting to feel like a story problem you find at the end of each chapter in your math book. "if peggy was chubby and lost 10 pounds then was stressed out of her mind for 2 months and ate ridiculous amounts of fatty foods and gained 8 of those pounds back then got back on track and lost 9 pounds over the following 2 months, how much weight did peggy lose over the past six months? draw a graph to show
your work."

i have read several am
books. i shall recommend a few of my favorites:

"the life and the
times of the thunderbolt kid" by bill bryson
"a great and terrible beauty" by libba bray (it's actually a trilogy... so read all 3)
"the secret life of bees" by sue monk kidd
"the known world" by edward p jones

i moved to a new place, bought a new car, got a new job (well kind of... i'm teaching theater at hale centre theatre on saturday mornings), made some new friends. new is the new old!

i have cried more than i have in a really really long time

i have had the strangest dreams. really violent and bizarre dreams that are wicked intense and really vivid.

i have watched how my father in heaven ha
s taught me, molded me and helped me to find direction and purpose in my life. it's the kind of direction you don't notice at the time but when you take a few steps back and look at how different your life is from what you planned for yourself and you see that what you are looking at is WAY better than what you could ever have conjured up for yourself... it's easy to recognize the hand of a loving father.

I own all three of "A Great and Terrible Beauty". It wasn't until I finished the third book that I realized those books are kind of creepy and weird. But I still love them.

Read Eragon. It's fantastic.

which of these books did you like enough to recommend? I read the life of bees. I love anything where they rub honey all over wooden statues. Mmmm...HONEY!
When do you want to do lunch? We are in the same state now, seems ridiculous NOT to!

kendall- i am so happy that not only did we love each other from first meeting- but that we can continue to bond over reading material! i will definitely give eragon a read!

regan- how silly of me to forget the we live in the same state now!!! you have just made my whole week look bright and beautiful!! you will be hearing from me very very soon. also- the books i recommended are all so different in nature so i guess it depends on what you like to read.

the known world is a historical fiction novel about black people owning slaves pre-civil war. all of his information comes from real census records and it is most fascinating!

the life and the times of the thunderbolt kid is so funny that i had to stifle many a loud laugh when i was on the bus and the train going to and from work! it's an auto-biographical commentary on growing up in middle america in the 50's... plenty of great facts mixed with hilarious exaggerated anecdotes. loved it!

if you loved the bella/edward novels then you would like a great and terrible beauty series. whereas the focus of the story is more on the heroine and not a love story- it's still just as compelling if not more so- written better- and an easy young-adult read. and just one word of advice- they are kind of scary so don't be like me and read them late at night!

and talking about honey has made me hungry for a peanut butter and honey sandwich-- gotta go!
